Scoliosis

Scoliosis

Scoliosis is classified as an abnormal curvature of the spine.

There are several types of scoliosis conditions. Most often, we will see congenital or degenerative scoliosis. Congenital scoliosis is typically present at birth but may not show signs or symptoms until the child becomes more developed. Degenerative scoliosis is when the spine curves as a person ages based on trauma, poor posture, weaknesses among others.

Symptoms of any form of scoliosis may consist of uneven shoulders and/or hips, a slouched upper back, trouble walking or standing straight. Numbness, weakness or pain in the legs, fatigue, shortness of breath can also be symptoms of scoliosis.

People experiencing scoliosis symptoms can reduce the pain associated with the condition using non-invasive and non-drug related chiropractic treatment. Treatment for scoliosis in our clinic will consist of our certified Doctors or Chiropractic performing an initial head-to-toe exam of the patient and health screening to identify the presence of scoliosis. Once the condition is identified, our doctors will prescribe an exercise and treatment plan that with not only decrease the pressure throughout the spine but also reduce pain and increase strength throughout the core.
